Visited January 2nd. Very long drive from Whitefish. I do not know what I think of this place and cannot decide if the drive was worth it or not. The toilets - both at the entrance and diagonally across are HORRIBLE. Do not go there if you can help it.
The gardens themselves are extremely underwhelming. Is it because it is winter? But then again what happened to designing gardens for 4 seasons? Winter interest? But I appreciated the opportunity to learn about other faiths. For some reason, I hoped to see 1000 different Buddha statues. 10 pieces around the circle, it was clear the entire set is exactly the same... Again, I do not know how I feel. Maybe just don't go in the winter. Might try it again in a different season - may be.
This place is so relaxing and it literally puts your whole spirit at piece. As far as the eyes can see you have the epic mountains in the background with just calm and quiet energy engulfing you.
A must see for anyone if you're heading to glacier national park or near the area. This beautiful and vast hidden gem is surrounded by the view of the mountains in every direction. It is so peaceful and special here. The statues, plaques, quotes lead to contemplation, appreciation, and a sense of connectedness. An insurmountable sense of appreciation is inevitable here.
This was an amazingly beautiful and peaceful place in the Middle of Nowhere, Montana featuring so many beautiful works of art, a koi pond, prayer flag mound, and a gift shop featuring water, prayer flags, little statues of Buddha, etc all VERY reasonably priced. This place was outstanding and if i could go again someday i would in a heartbeat. Be sure to bring coins as offerings, no pebbles or food.
Wonderful day trip. Very easy walk. Nice gift store on site. No dogs allowed. It doesn't have a set price, but donations gratefully accepted for maintenance of this beautiful site.
The Thousand Buddha Temple is an absolute gem! The tranquil ambiance and stunning architecture create an enchanting atmosphere that transports you to a world of serenity and spiritual beauty. The sight of countless intricately carved Buddha statues is awe-inspiring and leaves you feeling a sense of peace and reverence. Exploring the temple grounds and taking in the panoramic views is a truly unforgettable experience. A must-visit for anyone seeking a moment of tranquility and a deeper connection with history and spirituality.
Unbelievable place in the middle of Montana! There is no shade when you are walking around and only pit toilets but lovely place to see. No signs off the freeway so follow GPS. Parking lot by the entrance and then you walk half a mile to see the Buddhas that are in a circle. Nice gift shop.
This is an oasis within the rugged terrain of Montana. The grounds are beautifully kept, with a koi pond, many statues and plaques, beautiful foliage and a tangible sense of quiet peace. There is even a small gift shop where monks sell souvenir-like items made on site. You can also pay to dedicate one of the small white buddhas to a late loved one as a memorial to their life. Definitely stop in if you can, you won’t regret it.
